Yorkshire self catering - Hungate Cottages are ideally located close enough to the centre of town to have the full range of local amenities within walking distance whilst still being in a quiet enough area to retain the countryside feel. Likewise the town of Pickering is situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors but close enough to the East Coast to offer a huge range of activities and days out all within easy travelling distance. North Yorkshire is a wonderful holiday destination and will endear the whole family. To quote Simon Jenkins, England's Thousand Best Houses, 2003, "North Yorkshire is one of England's loveliest counties and most richly endowed with houses." Add to that the fact that The Hungate Cottages themselves are all beautifully restored period buildings which are loveling looked after by this family business, just as you will be too. The complex consists of 11 highly individual cottages and has the unique appeal of being a short walk from the town centre, whilst at the same time retaining the tranquillity and peacefulness of the countryside. Pickering itself is right on the doorstep of the Yorkshire Moors and is a short drive from the Roman City of York and the beautiful port towns of Whitby and Scarborough. Once experienced, Hungate often draws her guests back time and time again. Some are wooed by the high quality and characteristic décor of the cottages, others by the friendly atmosphere and attention to detail provided by this family owned business. | Being a short walk from the beautiful market town of Pickering, Hungate is ideally placed to discover the many delights of the surrounding area. Not only does it overlook the magnificent Yorkshire Moors, fantastic for walking and sight-seeing, it is also conveniently close to the east coast. All tastes and age groups are catered for, from the grandparents to the kids - so you'll never be short of things to do! Hungate is a family run business and is thus maintained with the care and attention to detail that you would expect from a homeowner. Each cottage is the responsibility of a housekeeper who takes pride in it as if it were her own home and the whole complex is supervised by an office manager whose office is on site. Ellerback

Bransdale To approach this warm comfortable cottage overlooking the courtyard, you enter past the pear tree and under the old cantilevered flag stones of the original granary steps. With a double and 2 single bedrooms, Bransdale suits parties where visitors prefer not to share a twin bedroom. |
Once the original servants' rooms, Ellerbeck has grown into a really cosy cottage overlooking the upper courtyard and its own little garden. Perfect for two couples who don't want to share facilities upstairs and just a few yards from the big arched gate that leads to the town and those superb restaurants! What's more, Ellerbeck shares the lovely secret walled garden.
