Pickering is an historic
market town located in North Yorkshire. With
a good old-fashioned friendliness and an unhurried
pace of life, it is bursting with attractions
and sights.
If you
are interested in the local history then
we suggest you visit the Beck
Isle Museum, Pickering
Castle & The
Parish Church of St Peter & St Paul.
Pickering is also famous for its North
Yorkshire Moors Railway. Read more and see video footage about the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Shoppers will
be pleased to know that the town has a whole
range of shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants
covering everything from the most modern to
the most traditional. Particularly worth a
visit is the Pickering
Antique Centre.
One of
the advantages of staying at Hungate is that
you get free use of the Pickering
Swimming Pool, including the flumes and
aqua aerobics. Pickering is also well known
for its Trout
farm where you can purchase freshly caught
fish - or if you have a little more time
on your hands you could try catching your
own. The town's weekly market is on Mondays.
