Holidays in North Yorkshire - Hungate Cottages are located on the outskirts of the delightful historic town of Pickering. The complex consists of 11 highly individual cottages and has the unique appeal of being a short walk from the town centre, whilst at the same time retaining the tranquillity and peacefulness of the countryside. Pickering itself is right on the doorstep of the Moors and is a short drive from the Roman City of York and the beautiful port towns of Whitby and Scarborough.

Holidays in North Yorkshire - Hungate is a family run business and is thus maintained with the care and attention to detail that you would expect from a homeowner. Each cottage is the responsibility of a housekeeper who takes pride it as if it were her own home and the whole complex is supervised by an office manager whose office is on site. For more click here.

The cottages are all unique, self-contained and each has been converted to the same luxurious standard. They stand colourful mature well maintained gardens where visitors can sit out (or pick early autumn plums from the orchard).

There are 11 cottages, a reception area with the Manager's office (always contactable in an emergency), ample parking, a utility room and a children's playground.

Residents also have free use of the Pickering Swimming pool centre, which is approximately 3 minutes walk away.

Prices shown are for a one week holiday, starting Saturdays between the dates shown. Christmas weeks start 21/12/05 and 23/12/06

Short breaks can be booked for any time the year, but high season periods (Christmas and New Year, Easter, May Day, 27 May to 1 September, Spring and Autumn half-terms), bookings for short breaks cannot be made more than four weeks advance.

Hungate Cottages are ideally located close enough to the centre of town to have the full range of local amenities within walking distance whilst still being a quiet enough area to retain the countryside feel. Likewise the town of Pickering is situated on the edge of the Moors but close enough to the East Coast to offer a huge range of activities and days out all within easy travelling distance. North is a wonderful holiday destination and will endear the whole family. To quote Simon Jenkins, England's Thousand Best Houses, 2003, "It is one of England's loveliest counties and most richly endowed with houses." Add to that the fact that The Hungate Cottages themselves are all beautifully restored period buildings which are loveling looked after by this family business, just as you will be too.
