Accomodation in Yorkshire
The limestone farm houses from which the Cottages have been converted were built the mid-18th Century around two courtyards. No longer needed for agriculture, the first seven cottages opened May 1980 and then four more have been converted to enable over 20,000 very happy holiday makers to visit this wonderful part of this region. The cottages are all unique, self-contained and each has been converted to the same luxurious standard. They stand around colourful mature well kept gardens where visitors can sit out (or pick early autumn plums from the orchard). There are 11 cottages, a reception area with the Manager's office (always contactable at emergency), ample parking, a utility room and a children's playground. Residents also have free use of the town's Swimming pool centre, which is approximately a short walk away. Hungate Cottages are ideally located close enough to the centre of town to have the full range of local shops short distance away whilst still being from a quiet enough area to retain the countryside feel. Likewise the town of Pickering is situated on the edge of the Moors but close enough to the East Coast to offer a huge range of activities and days out all within easy travelling distance. North Yorkshire is a wonderful holiday destination and will endear the whole family. To quote Simon Jenkins, England's Thousand Best Houses, 2003, "North is one of England's loveliest counties and most richly endowed with houses." Add to that the fact that The Hungate Cottages themselves are all beautifully restored period buildings which are loveling looked after by this family business, just as you will be too.
